This Dom Ruinart vintage Champagne is one heck of a way to turn up the festivity meter...

Antonio Galloni's Vinous:  "The 2007 Dom Ruinart is the first vintage made entirely by Chef de Caves Frédéric Panaïotis, which shows just how long the production cycle is in Champagne. A striking, tightly-coiled wine, the 2007 Dom Ruinart will leave readers week at the knees. In this vintage, Panaïotis took Dom Ruinart, which has traditionally relied on a relatively high percentage of Chardonnay from the Montagne de Reims and tilted the balance to 75% Côtes des Blancs and 25% Montagne de Reims fruit. As a result, the 2007 is much more chiseled and steely than is the norm. The citrus, slate, crushed rock, white pepper, mint and floral notes really sizzle in this powerful, dramatically rich Champagne, with bright saline notes that add freshness and vivacity to the striking finish. The 2007 is a stunning Champagne by any measure. Although it is very early, the 2007 has the potential to go down as one of the great Dom Ruinarts. It is every bit that special. Dosage is under 5 grams per liter, a pretty striking change from the 2006, which was closer to 10. Readers who can grab the 2007 won’t want to miss it. Drinking window: 2018 - 2048."Jul 2018

Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate:  "Disgorged in November 2017 with five grams per liter dosage, the 2007 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs opens in the glass with a lively bouquet of citrus oil, warm bread, green apple and oyster shell, linden and beeswax. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, taut and chiseled, with a taut and concentrated core, racy acids and a long, chalky finish. Drink date: 2021 - 2045." Aug 2019

Wine Spectator:  "Hints of toast and lime blossom on the nose accent the palate's apricot, lemon pastry, candied ginger and crystallized honey flavors in this rich and creamy blanc de blancs. Firm and finely balanced by a chinalike frame of acidity, with the finish echoing hints of smoke, coffee liqueur and spice. Disgorged September 2017. Drink now through 2028. " Dec 2018

Winery:  "This rare wine is the expression of the noblest Chardonnay Grands Crus and offers a remarkable tasting experience after ageing 8 to 10 years in the depths of Ruinart’s cellars.

Dom Ruinart 2007 has a luminous and intense gold colour with iridescent green glints. The attack is a hit of chalk, then flint and oyster shell notes mingle with the smoky aromas of blond tobacco. The nose continues into springtime notes, underscored with light aromas of sap, linden, acacia, extremely fresh yellow and green citrus fruit (lime, yuzu) and green fruit (plum). The subtle notes of fig leaf, liquorice and fine Chinese tea enhance the complexity of its aromatic bouquet. The palate, which begins smoothly, quickly reveals a thrilling, stony liveliness and a deep intensity structured by notes of green citrus and grapefruit. The sap-infused and chalky finish is framed with an elegant bitter flavour. Dom Ruinart 2007 is a dynamic, sculpted wine that expresses the full purity of fine Chardonnay.
