A cousin of the powerful and pricey Quintessa Cabernets, also made by the renowned and celebrated Huneeus family of Napa Valley, the Faust Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a deliciously dense red with notes of dark fruit and velvety tannins which will envelope you in its wonderfully luxuriant finish, at a far gentler price... The predominant Cabernet warrants serious meat dishes like lamb, beef and game, while the hint of Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot allow for slightly lighter fare, prepared robustly. For a crowd, this Faust is fantastic with a coffee- and pepper-rubbed rib roast. Serve it with a creamy potato gratin and sauteed spinach and the diner delight will follow naturally. Pan-seared lamb chops with a dark mushroom polenta will showcase the earthy side of this luscious Napa Valley Cab. If you're in the mood for something a bit lighter, we love the rich character of this Faust Cab with pepper-crusted, grilled tuna. Pour another generous glass and enjoy it with a room temperature fresh mozzarella; you'll be surprised at how well the two complement one another. If you prefer the sweeter option, that same glass will be perfect with bite-sized milk chocolate cups filled with dark chocolate mousse. Hooray for Cabernet!

James Suckling: "This is firm and juicy yet generous and fruity at the same time. Has a plush and wild feel. Extremely savory. Flavorful finish. Drink now or hold." May 2016

Wine & Spirits: Designated Most Popular Restaurant Wine 2018 & Most Popular Cabernet Sauvignon 2018.

Winery: "The 2016 Faust Cabernet is a blend of our estate vineyards in Coombsville and Rutherford and mountain sourcing in Atlas Peak, Mount Veeder and Howell Mountain. Intense yet fresh with juicy blue and black notes. Notes of dark chocolate and dried herbs seduce the palate while silky tannins and lifting acidity leads to a layered and lingering finish.

The 2016 vintage is a fierce reminder of why we love what we do, as it extended a run of five remarkable vintages in the Napa Valley. Even temperatures throughout the growing season produced excellent clusters, resulting in a bold and powerful wine. Fans of the 2015 Faust will love the 2016, with notes of dark chocolate, blue and black fruit, and dried herbs balanced by silky tannins and lifting acidity."

Fun Fact: Faust’s new label was inspired by Christopher Marlowe’s Tragical History of Dr. Faustus (1587). Napa Valley based artist and designer Michael McDermott created an illustration that depicts the night Faust summons the devil and sells his soul.
