Mr. Galloni calls this Felsina Chianti Classico Riserva "one of the world's greatest and most iconic wines", from what would be a Grand Cru classification, if Tuscany had them. Rancia is a high-altitude site in the south of the Chianti Classico appelation which yields extraordinary grapes and thus wines, some of which have aging potential of two to three decades, like this one. If that isn't enough to tickle your fancy, this Tuscan treasure is under $50. Yes, really. Put it on the top shelf of your wine closet and give it a few more years to unfold. Once you're there, let your wildest Tuscan fantasy come to life. Fill everybody's glasses and offer bites of soppresata, arugula, fig and gorgonzola pizza. For the entrée, cook your favorite pasta to a perfect al dente, and toss it with a Bolognese meat and tomato sauce with freshly grated Parmesan. This Riserva will also pair beautifully with grilled steak and a juicy lamb roast. Ask your butcher if they can get you some Chianina. It's Italy's most-prized beef, and it will be fantastic with this Tuscan red. Cosa sati aspettando winelovers??!

Antonio Galloni's Vinous: "If Tuscany had a formal vineyard classification Rancia would be a Grand Cru. And that is exactly what comes through in the 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia. Silky, sensual and finessed to the core, the 2015 is absolutely stellar. The ripeness of the tannins allows the natural radiance of the year to come through loud and clear. The 2015 is special. Rancia is quite simply one of the world's greatest and most iconic wines. Drink 2025-2045." Feb 2019

Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate:  "The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is a tremendous wine with an impactful yet very elegant bouquet. The central theme here is darkness and richness, and you get both of those things to the extent that Sangiovese can offer. The magic here is that Sangiovese sticks stubbornly to its inner grace and elegance, especially in a classic vintage such as this. Gravel alberese soils add to the wine's overall sharpness and detailed focus. There is a touch of sweet cherry confit ripeness on the close."

Winery: "Ruby red appearance, with rich, intense tonality. Spicy nose with floral notes; hints of wild berry (red and black) with mineral hints and subtle toasted notes. Spice re-appears on the palate, which displays tannins that are youthful and dense, yet already supple; the finale is vigorous and taut, flavour-rich and with a good supporting acidity."
