Feudo Montoni is a hot Sicilian winemaker which has gotten a lot of attention from the press. Production is certified organic, and we're having trouble deciding which of their wines we like best. The small production Feudo Montoni Nerello Mascalese Rose di Adele Rose (released in the US on April 1) is on the short list, and has been poured at NYC's Carbone and Del Posto restaurants.  Bring out a tray of bruschetta of prosciutto, ricotta and arugula and watch them disappear along with the wine. A delicious first course is a roasted beet salad with chickpeas and red onions. Follow that with a seafood paella or cioppino, depending on which culture you're feeling. We predict raves either way.

Winery:  "The color is light pink with bronze reflections. Notes of pink rose petal and violets combine with aromas of black pepper, blackberries, pomegranate and strawberries. On the palate, it has a pleasant astringency, a good structure, is fresh, persistent and highly palatable. Pair with appetizers and first courses of seafood, white meats and soft cheeses."

Nerello Mascalese: "Nerello Mascalese is a light-bodied grape that, despite its rarity, is known for its amazing value and a taste profile that is often likened to fine Pinot Noir."

The Love Story: "Rose di Adele is the name of the cru from which the grapes hail. The name has its origins in a rose garden that owner Fabio Sireci’s father, Elio, dedicated to his beloved wife, Adele."
