94pts Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate
Gilles Troullier is one of those well-kept, wonderfully skilled secrets of the Languedoc-Roussillon. Farming biodynamically and harvesting by hand, his methodology leads to stunning ambassadors of the Cotes Catalan in Languedoc-Roussillon. Production is tiny, but we scored some Gilles Troullier L'Esprit du Temps. We think you should see for yourself what Parker's Wine Advocate is raving about...

Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "Checking in as 100% Grenache, the downright sexy 2013 Côtes Catalanes l’Esprit du Temps has full-bodied richness and depth to go with rock-star notes of black raspberry, crushed violets and hints of pepper. It has a serious amount of texture, yet stays light, elegant and pure. It too will have a decade or more of longevity. Drink 2015-2025.

Vigneron Gilles Troullier ranks up with the best of the best in the Roussillon, and his tiny estate continues to fashion a bevy of beautiful wines that do everything right. Unfortunately, they’re all made in miniscule quantities and are hard to come by." Apr 2015

Jeb Dunnuck on Gilles Troullier:
"These awesome wines are made by Gilles Troullier, who was the former winemaker/cellar master for Chapoutier’s Roussillon efforts. Now focusing solely on his own estate, he’s producing some of the most exciting wines from the region."

Winery: "L’Esprit du Temps is a cuvée of pure Grenache from two sites of old-vines on schist and limestone soils near the villages of Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet and Latour de France – both within the historic borders of Maury. This cuvée, however, is a far cry from those rich, fortified, and fabled dessert wines, as it shows the deft vineyard and cellar work of Gilles. He captures the intensity of the terroir while coaxing an elegant and nuanced aspect of these ancient Grenache vines. Farmed biodynamically and harvested by hand, Gilles ferments L’Esprit du Temps in a concrete tank with indigenous yeasts before aging the wine in a single 600L neutral French oak demi-muid or a slightly larger Stockinger fuder – depending on the volume of the vintage."
