One of the best Burgundian style Chardonnays outside of France. The quality level is off the charts in a very unassuming package. Everything is lovingly
executed from wild yeast fermentation to barrel selection. These wines can age just like 1er Cru & Grand Cru white Burgundy.
Fill your glasses and tuck into a tub of salmon rillettes sprinkled with chopped chives, with baguette toasts on the side. Roast chicken with tangerines, garlic, white wine and rosemary is a perfect act 2 to the rillettes. Some grilled carrots and zucchini on the side, over a little jasmine rice won't hurt either. If you're more in the mood for shellfish, how about crab cakes with a creamy horseradish sauce? The acidity of the wine is perfect for any creamy or buttery sauce. This Kumeu River is great with brunchy egg dishes. We suggest poached eggs, fresh croutons and (bacon) lardons over a curly endive salad. Or, put all that on a grilled flatbread drizzled with some EVOO and feel the happy.
James Suckling: "A blend of six parcels this wine embodies the signature style of rich, ripe peach fruits and toasty oak warmth on the nose (20% new). The palate fuses ripe citrus and stone fruits together in a powerful, fresh and balanced mode. This is a trademark of Brajkovich – he embraces chardonnay's richness and delivers energy and flavor. Drink now." Nov 2017
Robert Parker, Jr's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Estate Chardonnay is more open-knit and less taut than the single vineyard wines, with an expressive nose of ripe nectarines, pink grapefruit and guava, plus underlying notes of baking bread and ginger. Medium-bodied, it offers richness and good depth in the mouth with an approachable, refreshing backbone and great harmony." Dec 2016
Winery: "This wine was fermented in a combination of old French oak barrels (25 percent) and stainless-steel tanks (75 percent), so there is very little oak influence on either nose or palate. This has allowed the vibrant fruit to show through beautifully with lively lime and lemon aromas and a flinty, mineral edginess with hints of fig and white peach. The weighty mid-palate also shows peachy ripeness along with crisp acid minerality that gives the wine a refreshing cleansing quality. This wine is delightful as an aperitif, and even better to drink with fish and shellfish."
