91pts James Suckling

What's better than a crisp Provencal Rose with stone fruit notes and bright acidity? Not a whole lot on a warm summer day. The La Bernarde Les Hauts du Luc Cotes de Provence Rose is just that and more. Pair it with a poolside lunch of fried chicken sandwiches topped with pickles and an herby mayonnaise; you won't believe your taste buds. Shrimp salad over tossed greens is another delicious option, as is a light supper of primavera pasta. Or, just sip it on its own; it will delight either way.

James Suckling:  "A steely, fresh rosé with sliced peaches and hints of cherries. Some lemons, too. Medium body. Bright, vivid acidity at the end. White pepper, too. Drink now." Jun 2020

Trade Notes:  "Bright and minerally focused, displaying fresh orange, strawberry, and floral aromas in the glass. Energetic and precise on the palate, offering strawberry, blood orange, nectarine, and lavender notes.

La Bernarde is an historic property in the village of Luc in the Côtes de Provence that has been restored by the owners of Commanderie de Peyrassol, utilizing the same winemaking team. This rock-laden limestone hillside that neighbors the famed Peyrassol, produces what many consider to be the noblest rosé in Provence. At nearly 300m above sea level, the village sees snow most winter, allowing for a longer and more balanced ripening of the grapes. In fact, harvests in this area start on average 10 days later than the lower lying sites. The high altitude, cooler micro-climate sets La Bernarde apart from the hot flatlands of St. Tropez and the rest of Provence."
