90pts Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate
Really all we need to know is that Parker's Wine Advocate says this Le Paradou Grenache "sells for a song and way over-delivers." Well, that and the fact that we're going to enjoy our first glasses with crostini of short rib, Cambozola cheese and a dot of cherry jam. We'll probably tuck into Harissa chicken with chipeas and yogurt after that, or if we're needing comfort food, it could just be a big pan of homemade mac 'n cheese, made with extra sharp cheddar of course. Roast chicken with all the garlic is another delicious option.

This is not a how many bottles decision, it's how many cases winelovers!

Robert Parker, Jr's Wine Advocate:  "The Le Paradou label is a joint venture between the Ventoux's Chateau Pesquie Chaudiere family and importer Eric Solomon. The 2016 Vin de France, which has already been bottled, is 100% Grenache and comes from vines in the Ventoux and the Roussillon's Agly Valley. It was brought up all in concrete tank. Deep ruby colored, with awesome notes of garrigue, pepper, kirsch and dark fruits, this beauty hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, no hard edges and a great finish. It sells for a song and way over-delivers. Drink 2017-2019." Apr 2017

Winery:  The Grenache, which originated in Spain, is said to have arrived in France from the Middle Ages onwards (from pilgrims who were returning from Santiago de Compostela) and is widely used all over the Mediterranean. It is used for great wines such as in Châteauneuf-du-Pape where it is dominant and is now one of the most cultivated vines in France and throughout the world. This varietal which hails from a warm climate is mainly found in the Southern Rhone Valley and the Languedoc Roussillon where it holds vast potential for intense aromas and quality. The Grenache finds its expression in plots that ripen later in the year where the nights are cool and the shallow and pebbly soils are dry."

Trade Notes: "This bistro-styled beauty has lots of kirsch, roasted herb, and luxurious black fruit.”
