In the mood for an elegant, bright Chardonnay with soft oakiness? So are we. Hence, today's Newton Skyside Chardonnay (formerly Newton's Red Label Chardonnay). It's got beautiful, perfectly packaged stone fruit and florality, and a well-rounded, posh finish that shows just a hint of minerality. Kick off the festivities with a Gala apple, Stilton and balsamic onion pizza sliced thinly as finger food. Make sure you've got a nice, full glass to go with it. The Skyside is an ideal companion for fish, seafood, shellfish, salads, pastas and risottos and more. Buttery, creamy sauces with moderate flavoring will pair best. Crisp-roasted cornish hens with tarragon butter will work wonderfully. We visited New Orleans this year, and have been craving their shrimp and grits ever since. The creaminess of the grits and mildly lemony shrimp are perfect for this Newton Chardonnay. To echo the gentle oak in the wine, how about individual lobster pot pies? A flaky pie crust is just the right amount of toasty flavor to connect with the subtle oak of the Skyside. When the big plates are cleared, bring out a room temperature brie, your favorite crackers and some dried apricots and apples, and toasted walnuts. And another bottle, of course.

Winery: "The 2016 Skyside Chardonnay shows vibrant aromas of peach and honeysuckle. Flavors of peach follow through on the palate with baked apple and subtle oak notes. The finish is crisp and delicate with notes of minerality.

We sourced the fruit for our 2016 Skyside Sonoma County Chardonnay primarily from the Northern Sonoma AVAs of Knights Valley, Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley and Dry Creek Valley. With other fruit sources from the cool Carneros region and a warmer area near Brentwood, we are able to make a wine with richness and depth. Our goal is to source the best grapes from several areas which will allow us to craft a wine that is vibrant, round and complex."
