92pts Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate
Hot off the just-rated presses, it's' ready to drink now, so set this Oddero Barbera d'Alba Superiore in the middle of the table and let everyone can help themselves. Start with grilled Italian meatlover's pizzas - load them up with sausage, soppresata and prosciutto, a little red sauce, torn mozzarella, garlic chunks and salt and pepper. They'll be fighting over the slices... We had fried rabbit in one of our fave places in NYC (once upon a time), Via Carota; we wish we had had a bottle of this Oddero to go with it. A simple pasta (tajarin, because the egginess of the noodles goes so well) with a truffle sauce is another delicious option. Or, lentils with chicken sausage. We're not done yet! Fill your glasses once (or twice) more because this Barbera is one of the few wines which can handle a blue cheese. Offer up a room temperature, creamy Stilton cheese with some toasted pecans and your favorite dried fruits as your final course. You'll be glad you did.

Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate: "The Oddero 2018 Barbera d'Alba Superiore impresses from the first sip thanks to its richness, smoothness and seamless nature. This is a terrific wine with enough natural acidity to give symmetry to the dark fruit. On the nose, it delivers generous blackberry, spice and tar. These balanced results make this a versatile food wine to pair with white meat, pasta or pizza. Drink 2020-2025." Jul 2020

Winery:  "Intense ruby-red color with purple tinges, a bouquet of cherry, blackberry, small red fruits, pepper and mineral flavors with an excellent dash of freshness. Tannins are soft and fresh in the mouth, maintaining the classic Barbera backbone, thanks to its pleasant acidity."

Oddero Wow Fact: Oddero is one of the great, historic, traditional Barolo houses with a long history spanning over 200 years. There are mentions of the Oddero family in La Morra as far back as the 1700s, though the family was likely there even before that point.
