93-95pts Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate
The artisans at Outpost are obsessive about their harvest and all other steps in their winemaking. They're up at dawn picking grapes in order to deliver the purest expression of the Napa grape and all the complexity it has to offer. You will be richly rewarded for all that fanaticism by this Outpost Howell Mountain Zinfandel. It is a full-bodied powerhouse of a wine, made for hearty, meaty meals. Think braising in the oven for hours... Mr. Parker's Wine Advocate calls it full-bodied, velvety, rich and more. That made us trip over ourselves to get some. You should too.

Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate:  "A barrel sample, the 2016 Zinfandel sings of crushed blackberries, fruitcake and raspberry preserves notes with touches of potpourri, incense and Indian spices. Full-bodied, velvety, rich and spicy in the mouth, it delivers mouth-filling berry preserves and exotic spice layers, finishing long with some earthy notions coming through. 1,180 cases produced." Dec 2017

Jeb Dunnuck:  "All from the estate vineyard on Howell Mountain, the 2016 Zinfandel is a complex, layered, pretty Zinfandel that’s a touch reserved and inward. Notes of blackberries, plum, incense, white pepper and brambly spice all emerge from the glass of this concentrated, structured beauty that’s going to benefit from a year of two of bottle age."
