91pts Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate
This bottle of Rafael Palacios Louro Godello reminds us why we love the lighter side of wine. It's a clean, fresh mouthful of Spanish white wine that will immediately have you crafting recipes in your head. Chill your first bottle lightly - not icy cold, and serve it with mini crab cakes and a chive aioli. A classic Caesar salad is the perfect starter for the meal; don't forget the anchovies! Add grilled shrimp to make it a light lunch or dinner. Seared scallops with cannelini beans and shaved fennel is a heartier choice, but no less delicious. Not feeeling the seafood? How about chicken, peas and shallots tossed in a white wine cream sauce with spaghetti is just the ticket. Go ahead; take a walk on the light side winelovers.

Robert Parker, Jr.'s Wine Advocate:  "The 2015 Louro always contains some 8% Treixadura while still maintaining Godello as the main grapes. It's sourced from their own vineyards in the municipality of O Bolo averaging 20 years of age. The grapes had a short maceration in the press and the clean must is transferred to 3,000-liter French oak vats where it ferments without any added yeast. The wine matured in these same containers with the fine lees for four months. He has a 9,000-meter plot of Treixadura, which adds freshness, especially in the warm vintage. There is an extra degree of precision and freshness compared with the 2015 Bolo, and intensity too. The flavors are clean and very focused, persistent thanks to the pungent acidity. It stays in your taste buds for a long time. This is a superb showing for this bottling. Killer value too! Drink 2016-2021.

Every time I meet Rafael Palacios, he's so enthusiastic about his latest wines that you might think he had discovered a new continent or something... However, this time I think he has something special in his hands. He keeps going from strength to strength with his range of Godello whites from Valdeorras." Apr 2016

Importer Notes:  "As quaffable and enjoyable as Godello can be from Valdeorras, it rarely reaches the level of richness, balance and complexity as it does in the hands of Rafael Palacios. The Louro is crafted from younger vines but is selected from plots that produce more age-worthy wines. Fermented with indigenous yeast and aged in used foudre, Louro showcases Rafa’s talent at balancing the minerality of the grape with the richness and texture of the elevage."
