100pts James Suckling

Not only did it score 100 points, this Renieri Brunello di Montalcino was designated #2 in James Sucklings Top 100 Wines of 2019. It will be ready to drink in a few short years, and for several years after that. The longer it rests, the silkier it will  become. We like to get several bottles so that we can experience the wine at different stages of evolution. When you do open it, decant at least an hour before you're ready to drink, and pair your first glasses with blue cheese bison sliders. They're perfect for the full body and tannins in the wine. The earthy side of this Tuscan treasure goes beautifully with game, so we think you should try your hand at roast pheasant. Simply prepared meats and dishes are best with this BdM. Steaming bowls of pappardelle with a rabbit ragu are another delicious option. Needing a meatless option? Make it a portabello risotto with shaved white truffles to take it over the top. Chi à affamato??

James Suckling:  Designated #2 Top 100 Wines of 2019. "Earthy aromas of bark, sand, truffles, graphite, rust, terracotta and sandalwood rise up from the deep with Burgundian poise; fruitier orange zest and preserved lemons glimmer in their wake, while riper incense and tar lurk in this dense forest of aromas. Physics itself gives way as the line between reduction and oxidation is blurred. There’s such richness to the center palate, but the fruit there is vivacious and elegant, swaddled in robust but generous tannins that breach the outermost reaches of the mouth. The finish is hauntingly long, the after effects of the acidity unworldly. This is certainly in a quiet, reserved stage of evolution, and will need time to fully mature in bottle. Drink in 2025."
