Salicutti Piaggione Brunello di Montalcino 2015

The Podere Salicutti Piaggione Brunello di Montalcino has such a limited production that it is normally only allocated to high end restaurants. This is the first time we've been able to get some. It's a Tuscan treasure winelovers;. Another plus: you would never pay this price in a restaurant; think multiples. It's got another year and a half before it's truly ready to drink, but it will be well worth the wait. Grilled Chianina rib steak, Nona's meat lasagne and guinea fowl roasted with figs and Marsala are a few favorites that come to mind as pairings for the rich flavors in this bottle. Godere!
Antonio Galloni's Vinous: "The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Piaggione shows an intense display of crushed raspberry and tart cherry, leaning to the darker and spicier spectrum, showing exotic brown spice, cedar, and shavings of baker’s chocolate. On the palate, soft textures give way to ripe black cherries with a rich, confectionery note, as brisk acids add energy, and saline-minerals slowly saturate. The finish is long, as residual acids sizzle upon the senses, tapering off to reveal pretty red berry fruits with a savory herbal twist. The 2015 Piaggione is already quite open, coming across as almost creamy on the palate, with vibrant primary fruit that nearly masks its structural core. Drink 2022-2032." Apr 2020
Wine Spectator: "Bright cherry and juniper flavors are the main flavor themes, augmented by strawberry, wild thyme, stone and loam notes. Taut, elegant and well-structured, balanced and long. The finish reveals this wine's potential. Best from 2023 through 2045. 525 cases made." Jun 2020
Winery: "Iron fist in the velvet glove... packed with complexity, cherry, tobacco, roses, and mineral, yet smooth tannins undermine the ageworthy potential of this Brunello. A rising star in the region."
