The Sartarelli family has dedicated themselves to the historical preservation of Verdicchio in Castelli di Jesi and thereby elevated the future of Verdicchio to levels of sophistication, versatility, and quality that few can compete with. For over forty years, the family has excelled in the region and eventually decided to devote their energy to a single variety—and if one needs proof of their unwavering pursuit, one needs look no further than the Museo Sartarelli that traces the history of Verdicchio to its origins based on the scholarship of historian Professor Riccardo Ceccarelli.
The delicate herbal notes of this Sartarelli Tralivio Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi are perfect for a classic dish of shrimp scampi. A composed salad on the side with fresh tarragon will pair beautifully with the floral nuances in this delicious Italian white. Use the bright acidity to cut through the richness of a heaping platter of buttermilk fried chicken with homemade potato salad on the side. If you're feeling flush, make it broiled lobster with drawn butter and lemon wedges. This Tralivio is perfect for all of these dishes and so much more. How are you ushering in the spring winelovers?
Decanter: "Verdicchio is definitely one of the most interesting emerging white grapes of Italy, which here meets Ondine de la Feld, one of the most brilliant and eclectic new producers. In the dry 2017 vintage she was able to produce a citrus wine with chalky minerality and a generous, mouthfilling, ripe fruit core. Interesting and easy to drink. Drinking Window 2018 - 2022" Oct 2018
Winery: "Of a lively and bright straw yellow color. It opens with an elegant and alluring bouquet of aromatic spring herbs which develop into aromas of acacia, linden, apricot and fresh almond. It also has citrus fruit aromas as well as a mineral scent. In the mouth it is very persistent. It is well balanced with a rich alcohol zing, acid freshness and sapidity. Characteristically it has a bitter almond finish, which is the typical recurring element of this varietal.
Some tips on how to combine Tralivio with food, but please never forget to follow your own tastes and preferences! Charming with sushi, salmon and raw fish. It matches very well with elaborate fish or white meat dishes, such as brodetto di pesce (typical fish soup of our region), baked or grilled fish, even spicy food, chicken or rabbit “in potacchio” (typical local dish) and lamb fricassee. It is also very good with mushrooms, truffles and medium mature cheeses."
