"Solidly built, with a sappy core of kirsch, blackberry paste and red licorice flavors tightly coiled together and backed by roasted apple wood, warm stone and tobacco leaf notes through the finish." ~ Wine Spectator

Seven generations of the Coulon family have crafted wine at the Boisrenard winery. That means back to the 14th century. Lots of practice, improvement and expertise have happened over these centuries.

    Wine Spectator
: "Solidly built, with a sappy core of kirsch, blackberry paste and red licorice flavors tightly coiled together and backed by roasted apple wood, warm stone and tobacco leaf notes through the finish. The beautiful fruit should develop nicely with extended cellaring, as this has serious grip and drive. Best from 2020 through 2040." Sep 2018

Winery: "Parcels of old vines 60-100 years in age, planted in soils of great character and complexity, provide the grapes for this wine. They are picked when fully mature and meticulously sorted by hand to further enhance concentration. Yields are very low: 15-20 hectoliters/hectare. These old parcels, in which different varieties are planted together, embody the symphony of 13 varieties, though Grenache predominates.

The Boisrenard undergoes lengthy vatting and is aged in an entirely traditional way: no filtration or fining, then 18 months' ageing in oak barrels, bottling, and a spell of rest in our underground cellars."
